Ukulele 1

Hello! My name is Gary Jugert (sorta pronounced like “yogurt” -- I know, weird -- but Gary will be just fine) and I am so excited to get together with you Monday to make some music on ukulele. No musical or ukulele experience is required; I'll teach you what you need to know. We have a fun, fast and intense journey ahead. Eight weeks from today, you’re going to be amazing yourself and others.

My email address is garyjugert@yahoo.com and my phone number is 303-984-0777. If you have questions, don't hesitate to contact me. Be a little patient as I receive a lot of electronic communication and there’s still a few sit-com episodes I haven’t watched yet.

If you own your own music stand, please bring it. If you don't, we have some you can use in class.

I will bring copies of the sheet music UNM is kind enough to provide for us, but bring a three-ring binder to hold it all. I will have binders available for $5 if you need to buy one.

Please show up a little early if possible as traffic is typically intense at that time of day, and I want to make sure your ukulele is playable and in tune. We'll start at 6 pm sharp and use the full hour. Our classroom is Room 226 on the second floor of the south building at the UNM Continuing Ed building at 1634 University Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87131. There’s an elevator behind the stairs if your knees are as cranky as mine.

Please park in the west parking lot along University. It's best if ukulele players stick together and the lighting is a little better on that side of the building. 😉

Our program at UNM is quickly becoming the largest in the city and I’m looking forward to meeting you, adding you to the "band," turning you into a life-long musician, and making wonderful solo and ensemble music together.

Ukulele 2

We're going to be doing two songs each week so we have plenty of time at the end of our course to "just play." Please try to get What a Wonderful World and Moon River as far along as possible. Play the melody, play the chords and sing (or hum) the melody, and of course work the TuffUke until you want to cry ... from the beauty of the music you're creating.

Hello! My name is Gary Jugert (sorta pronounced like “yogurt” -- I know, weird -- but Gary will be just fine and you probably already know me) and it's time to fire up those ukuleles, knock out eight weeks of wonderfulness, and most entertainingly, try to watch me learn your name. I am so excited to get together with you Monday to make some music. Your tab reading, sheet music expertise, and jazz be-bop will be on the rise and you’ll shine so bright you’ll need a weird hat and sunglasses.
