April 25, 2026: Parting Glass (Scottish Traditional) is posted in Book 2.
Well, the Celts seem to be pretty good at combining drinking, sneaking out of a party, and making friends. Here's the whole shebang wrapped up in a great melody. I think you can play this one forever. It's also nice the opening section repeats and then returns at the end, and then repeat the whole thing a bunch more times, so there's not much to memorize here. It's a lotta bang for your buck.
If you're on High G, be gentle on the fourth string so as not to be confusing it's sound with the melody notes. The E minor shape with a pinky up on the fifth fret will be annoying at first, but it's not the worst thing you'll face in ukulele. Getting picked on by the cool musicians will be way worse, but thankfully there aren't any. Make sure you're using a full bar chord in Measure 17 and really hammer it. It's supposed to sound a little intense before you hop back into one more verse.
Remember we're getting together on Sunday nights at 7 pm Mountain time on YouTube and you should join us. Info isĀ here.
